My exuberant, political programme
I am excited to announce that in December the University of Iowa will be screening a film programme that I have curated for their Exuberant Politics programme – a year long initiative that celebrates “recent intersections of art and activism in the US”.
My film programme is entitled God’s Special Envoys, as according to TV evangelist Pat Roberts: “In a free society, the police and the military are God’s special envoys.” This program highlights the horrors of conflict in a collective call to peace; sharing images of the people on the frontline fighting other people’s wars, and those who rise up and refuse to conform to state control. Animation techniques are employed in all of the films to reflect on war and unrest in vibrant, exuberant, and illuminating ways.
The programme will be showing on Tuesday 3 December at 8 PM at the University of Iowa’s Museum of Art. More about Exuberant Politics can be found here on Facebook. More about the titles that I’ll be showing coming soon…
