Producer
Animated fabric brings the story of a lingerie factory in Manchester to life. Silk, cotton and lace go under the camera, as the workers recount the history of Ella & me, the UK garment manufacturing industry, and British family traditions of making. A specially composed soundtrack by Swedish composer Malin Bång, inspired by sounds of sewing machinery, evokes the ups and downs of the factory.
A film by Samantha Moore, made in collaboration with composer Malin Bång, and the team at Ella & me. Created as part of the project ‘Happiness Machine’, a production of Klangforum Wien.
Winner of Best British Film at London International Animation Festival 2019 and Best Documentary at ReAnima International Animated Film Festival 2019. Longlisted for the BAFTA for British Short Animation 2020. Nominated for Best Short Film at the British Animation Awards 2020. Chosen for a Vimeo Staff Pick.
Premiered at the ECLAT Festival in Stuttgart in February 2019 in a performance by Klangforum Wien, with the cinema premiere at Tricky Women Festival in Vienna in March 2019.
