Secret Monsters
Producer
An array of amazing animations that provide an insight into the world’s hidden or secret monsters. The brief I proposed to the artists was to consider the pseudo-science of cryptozoology – the search for creatures whose existence remains unproven. Many of these creatures feature in myths, legends and folklore across the globe, and include thunderbirds, the Loch Ness Monster, phantom cats, Bigfoot, colobockle, and the Chupacabra.
The artists commissioned to make the films were: Vicki Bennett, Elizabeth Hobbs, Clemens Kogler, Jossie Malis, Mandy McIntosh, Motomichi Nakamura, Sean Vicary and Atsushi Wada.
An Animate Projects production for Channel 4. The Secret Monsters films were broadcast on Channel 4 in 2013.
Awards: Anomalies by director Atsushi Wada – Winner of The KLAB Award at Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2014 and the Artist in Residence Stipend at VIS (Vienna Independent Shorts) 2014.
