A treasure hunter’s tenacious quest across the British countryside leads us to a spectacular gold masterpiece, and the leader who sacrificed it for the sake of her child. A glorious, animated adventure, inspired by the discovery of the Shropshire sun pendant in 2018 – one of the most remarkable finds in Europe in the last century.
The film was presented at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery in autumn 2021 in the British Museum Spotlight Loan Exhibition Gathering Light. The film screened in competition at Norwich Film Festival and London International Animation Festival in 2021, amongst others.
Winner of Best Animation at Women Over Fifty Film Festival 2022. Winner of Best Animated Film and nominee for Best Short Film and Best Music at the Midlands Movies Awards 2022. Winner of the Cultura Animata Award at RAM Film Festival 2022.
Treasure is a film by Samantha Moore, produced by Animate Projects, commissioned by Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery, and funded by BFI NETWORK via Film Hub Midlands, awarding funds from the National Lottery.
